Vicki Gausden
IllustratorVicki is an illustrator who spent her childhood on the move, living in various military camps scattered about the globe. She is primarily solar-powered, most likely due to Maltese genes, and has a slight obsession with the 6B pencil. She’s been a vegetarian since the age of eleven and is a Blue Peter badge-holder.
Vicki attained a BA (Hons) and MDes in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art and has over twelve years of experience as a freelance illustrator, specialising in the children’s publishing and gift markets. Her previous clients include HarperCollins, Costa Coffee and Scholastic.
Every piece of artwork begins in Vicki’s sketchbook with a 6B pencil before adding colour with digital brushes. She’s that rare breed of illustrator who actually enjoys drawing horses and can mostly get the legs right. She is also partial to a spot of hand-lettered type and has designed greeting cards for Hallmark.
Vicki currently lives on the edge of the South Downs with two ridiculously small dogs and one very patient husband.
