Emily Jones is a freelance illustrator working out of her studio in Cardiff. Born and raised in Tyneside, Emily moved to Wales to study Illustration at the School of Creative Arts, Wrexham. There, she cemented the ambition to illustrate children's books for a living.
Emily likes to illustrate comical characters, environments and scenes with detail and movement. Most of her illustrations are created digitally but she loves to go back to basics with a technical pencil on paper whenever she can.
When she's not illustrating narrative, Emily enjoys painting photo-realistic animal portraits, walking through forests with her partner and dogs and is passionate about nature, particularly birds and wildlife.
Emily was named runner-up in the Jonathan Cape/Observer Graphic short story Prize 2017. Shortlisted for the Stratford-Salariya picture book prize and, an 'Undiscovered Voice' with SCWBI in 2018.
