Emma Lazell is an author and illustrator based in Suffolk. She graduated from Cambridge School of Art with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration in 2018 and a BA in Illustration from the University for the Creative Arts in 2014. She has worked with Farshore Harpercollins, and Pavilion Children’s on 3 Author-illustrated picture books.

Emma’s work is mixed media and a combination of analogue and digital. She loves handmade textures and expressive inky dip pen lines. Emma captures character interactions tenderly and loves working on books about friendship. She is also developing portfolio work for early readers and fiction and would love to illustrate something really silly.

Emma brings a sketchbook everywhere she goes, and loves people watching in cafes, preferably with a large slice of cake. Her inspiration comes from all sorts of places, from everyday moments with her daughters, trips to the market, and little adventures to the sea or the city.
